From historic Ballon d'Or triumphs to a dramatic El Clásico encounter and a landmark Formula 1 victory, we look back at three of the biggest stories making headlines in international sport over the past week.
Kane and Putellas Celebrate Ballon d'Or Glory
Harry Kane became the first Englishman in 25 years to win the men's Ballon d'Or, receiving football's most prestigious individual award at a ceremony in London on Monday.
The Bayern Munich and England captain claimed the honour ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal following an outstanding 2025/26 season in which he scored 73 goals for club and country.
Meanwhile, Spain's Alexia Putellas claimed the women's Ballon d'Or for a record-equalling third time, adding to her previous victories in 2021 and 2022.
The 32-year-old midfielder was recognised following a remarkable season with Barcelona, helping the club secure the UEFA Women's Champions League title before joining London City Lionesses in the summer.
The awards marked a historic evening for both players, celebrating their achievements at the highest level of international football.
Mbappé Fires Real Madrid to El Clásico Victory
Kylian Mbappé scored twice as Real Madrid secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Camp Nou, ending their rivals' unbeaten start to the La Liga season.
The French forward opened the scoring in the first half before Raphinha equalised for Barcelona shortly after the hour mark. With the match heading towards a draw, Mbappé struck again in the 87th minute to secure all three points for José Mourinho's side.
The winning goal also marked Mbappé's 100th goal for Real Madrid, adding another significant milestone to a memorable El Clásico performance.
