SNTV Brings SPOGOMI’s Trash-Picking Sports World Cup 2025 to Audiences Worldwide

SNTV provided coverage of the SPOGOMI Trash-Picking Sports World Cup 2025, where 33 nations gathered in Tokyo to compete in the uniquely Japanese sport that turns litter collection into a fast-paced team challenge.

Created in 2008 to promote environmental awareness, SPOGOMI asks three-person teams to collect and sort trash under time pressure, blending strategy, physical activity and sustainability.

Team Japan’s Smiles Story claimed this year’s title at an event that combined the atmosphere of a major sports competition with a mission to inspire cleaner communities. A colourful opening parade, trophy return and anthem ceremony added to the sense of occasion.

SNTV’s coverage generated strong global engagement, with the story used over 230 times by 50 media outlets across 27 markets, including significant uptake in Germany, Italy and Spain, resulting in more than 2.5 hours of total usage worldwide.
