Samsung approached sntv to develop a new Video on Demand (VOD) sports news app for their latest smart TV’s. Samsung commissioned sntv to develop the app utilising our expertise and unrivalled sports content.
The app was developed by sntv’s partner Rightster and is available to download free globally for all Samsung Smart TV customers. The exciting partnership between sntv, Rightster and Samsung marked sntv’s first foray into the app market.
Samsung wanted to provide its customers with up to date sports news content including the latest developments from big tournaments, including the UEFA Champions League and FIFA World Cup. sntv’s objectives were to deliver premium sports news directly to customers.
sntv offers global football, golf and bizarre sports content exclusively to Samsung Smart TV owners, who were able to access a vast amount of high quality video. sntv’s content is available at a swipe of a screen giving customers complete control over what sports news and highlights footage they watch and when. The app was developed with Rightster and was designed to integrate Samsung’s advertising AdHub service, which supports video ad formats.
The sntv app is available to all Samsung Smart TV customers across the globe and has currently been downloaded over 650,000 times with the highest download rates from Russia, the USA, Brazil and the UK.
“We are extremely excited to be working with leading technology partners Samsung who have an incredibly high market share in the TV market globally and video content hosts Rightster, to deliver sntv content straight to the customer.
We aim at gaining insight into how people across the globe now consume sports content with the influence of connected TVs and smarter technology. This partnership also demonstrates the important role news agencies play in giving consumer instant choice and access to the content they want.” Martin Kay,
